Fisher Talking about Fisher! :)

I have to admit it, this guy drew my attention b/c we share last names! :)

After doing some research on all of the artists, I really liked the work of this dude Vernon!

Vernon Fisher was born in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1967, he received his BA at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. In 1969, just TWO years later, he received his MFA at the University of Illinois! (Champaign-Urbana, Illinois to be exact).

In the 1970s, Vernon began making artwork professionally. His primary works fall into the category of mixed-media - often installations that combine photography, found objects, and written text…

“His works are visual narratives, using slang and colloquial language, that explore the nature of storytelling. Drawing his subjects from everyday observations and childhood experiences, his stories are ambiguous in meaning. Seeing the symbols and signs of society as culturally constructed, with underlying political and economic implications, Fisher questions any notion of an objective reality” (MMoCA Collects).

Here are some photos of his work and the artist himself! (I’m blanking on how to put images into these posts, so if they don’t work, just google his name and some good stuff comes up under images!)fisher.jpg

To cap off my first blog entry, here’s a ridiculously sweet video of a guy painting Britney Spears!
